Walnut
Bend Elementary Eagle's Nest
is an after school program that provides a safe, fun and
well-supervised environment where a variety of activities
enhance each student's academic performance, increases self
esteem and promotes healthy lifestyle choices. Academics
are reinforced through study hall and assistance with homework.
Tutoring is provided by outside organizations for students
who need extra help. Classes in music, literature, computer,
health, physical education, cooking, math and science are
correlated with the TAKS and supplement
the curriculum in the classroom. Students who attend Eagle's
Nest after school program are also given the opportunity
to participate in the Art Club, track, scouts, Midi for
Kids, Chess Club and Name that Book.
All after school programming is designed
to facilitate positive social interaction between students
and staff. Positive social interactions are accomplished
through a staff that provides positive role models. Walnut
Bend Elementary "I-Care Rules"
are used throughout the after school program.
Eagle's Nest
is run by teachers and staff at Walnut Bend Elementary.
Space is limited. For an application to Eagle's
