Code
HISD Uniform & Dress Code Policy allows individual schools to determine its own dress code policy.
Walnut Bend Elementary School recognizes
the importance of encouraging high standards in dress and
personal grooming. Students should dress in a manner conducive
to good behavior and to the creation of a good educational
atmosphere in the school. (See pictures of our students
in proper attire.)
Girls
- Navy blue or khaki skirts, walking
shorts, pants, jeans or jumpers
- Plain white, red or navy blue shirts
or blouses, tucked in
- Socks and shoes with rubber soles
- Belts are optional
Boys
- Navy blue or khaki shorts, pants or
jeans
- Plain white, red or navy blue shirts,
tucked in

Winter attire inside should adhere
to uniform code. Navy sweaters, jackets, or sweatshirts
are acceptable. Spirit shirts may be worn on Friday only.
All clothes must be appropriately sized (the judgment of the school). Winter attire inside should adhere to uniform code. Navy sweaters, jackets or sweatshirts are acceptable. According to HISD board policy 740.200 all students have the responsibility to become familiar with the school's standards and the responsibility to adhere to them. Violation of a school'smandatory school uniform is classified as a Level II Misconduct. The student will work in-house suspension until proper clothes are brought.
Unacceptable school dress includes...
- Bare midriffs, haltertops, cut-offs or short-shorts
- Baggy pants that hang below the waist
- Sandals, clogs, cowboy boots and shoes with cleats or wheels
- T-shirts with gang, drug related symbols, offensive messages, or vulgar language
- Undershirts worn as a uniform shirt
- Tight fitting clothes
Occasionally, Walnut Bend allows Free Dress Days for students. All students must adhere to the dress code by wearing proper attire and avoiding unacceptable school dress guidelines as indicated above. |
