Bend Art Program
Visual Arts is an integral part of the
enrichment program at Walnut Bend. The goal of Walnut Bend Elementary's Visual
Arts program is to afford the students the opportunity to
learn to see things differently, to look more closely at
artworks, and to enjoy creative experiences.
For 50 minutes, students
are engaged in a comprehensive literature-based program
where literature, art prints, well-known artists, and all
of the elements of art are taught. Each day students are
given many opportunities to view reproductions of masterpieces
where various materials are displayed on the walls; however,
these pictures are changed with some regularity in order
that the five basic elements of art can be visually introduced. Below are self-portraits by some of our aspiring artists.

Each class session, students are given
the opportunity to experiment with different types of mediums
such as crayons, watercolors, paints, pastels, markers,
and other raw materials. Walnut Bend's Visual Arts program
encourages creative expression and helps to nurture the
hidden gifts and talents of every student.
Pig Day Art
Mrs. Jordan had some fun with students on Pig Day. Classes made pig art hats, masks and bookmarks! Pig Day! Who knew?
